About Karnataka Education Authority (KEA)

The Government of Karnataka established the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell in 1994 to conduct entrance examinations and determine eligibility and merit for admission to the first year or first semester of full-time professional courses under the government quota. These include programs in Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine, Homoeopathy, Engineering, Architecture, and Farm Sciences such as B.Sc. (Agriculture, Sericulture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agri Biotechnology), BHSc. (Home Science), and various B.Tech courses like Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, and Food Science & Technology, along with B.F.Sc. (Fisheries), B.Sc. (Agricultural Marketing & Cooperation), and Pharmacy courses, including B.Pharm and Pharm.D.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) allots seats for Medical, Dental, and AYUSH courses strictly based on the seat matrix issued by the Government of Karnataka and the candidate’s NEET score. Admissions to government quota seats are conducted in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006, as amended from time to time. As per Government Order No. ED 212 TEC 2006 dated 20-12-2006, the Common Entrance Test Cell was restructured into an autonomous body under the Societies Registration Act, 1960, and renamed as the Karnataka Examinations Authority.
