New Delhi: NEET UG 2025, conducted on May 4, witnessed over 20.8 Lakh candidates appearing across India, but this year’s paper brought a noticeable shift in difficulty, especially in Physics, which many students described as very tough and time-consuming. In comparison to NEET 2024, the Physics section in 2025 was filled with lengthy numericals, fewer theory-based questions, and complex problem-solving tasks that made time management a major challenge. While Biology remained largely NCERT-based and easier, and Chemistry leaned more towards conceptual and application-based questions, it was Physics that became the most significant hurdle for aspirants.
Experts and coaching institutes have observed that even well-prepared students struggled to complete the Physics section within the allotted time. Due to this spike in difficulty, academic analysts predict that the cut-off for government medical colleges may drop by 5–10 marks compared to last year.
The expected cut-off for general category MBBS seats could fall to around 690–710 marks, although top ranks may still hover above the 710–720 mark. With Biology being scoring and Chemistry moderately difficult, the final scores are expected to show a wider variation this year.
As students await the release of the official answer key and results, it is clear that Physics has played a decisive role in shaping NEET 2025, and it may significantly impact both ranks and admission trends.
